Larkin Poe recorded “God Moves On The Water” on theirs album ‘Self Made Man’,
In the wake of 2020, we are honored to release an animated video for “God Moves On The Water”. Louis Roba illuminated this song with the creative light of his animation skills (and four months of work)! As ever, we share this in memory of Blind Willy Johnson and also for all those who have been cast adrift by this tumultuous year.
Larkin Poe is a brand new band in the blues scene. Two sisters, Rebecca Lovell, and Meghan Lovell created this band in 2010. Tarka Layman on bass guitar and Kevin McGowan on drums plays with the sisters. Rebecca Lovell sings and plays acoustic and electric guitar and sometimes violin and piano as well. Meghan Lovell’s domain is the slide technique, which she uses when playing lapsteel and dobro guitar.
The band Larkin Poe was founded in 2010. The name for the band comes from the sisters’ great-great-great-grandfather. The group’s first big success was its performance in 2014 at the Glastonbury festival. The Observer named them the best Glastonbury discovery. In 2018, the band released the album “Peach,” which was nominated by the Blues Foundation as the Best Emerging Artist Album. In the same year, their next album “Venom & Faith” reached number one on the blues list of Billboard. He was also nominated for a grammy award as Best Contemporary Blues Album in 2020. After that, the next album, “Self Made Man,” released in 2020, also climbed to # 1 on the blues billboard chart.
