Albert Collins was one of the most influential blues guitarists in history. His playing style, known as "cool sound", was characterized by a sharp, icy sound and the use of alternate tunings. Collins started playing guitar at the age of 12, and in the 1950s and '60s he performed with legends such as T-Bone Walker, John Lee Hooker and B.B. King. In the 1970s and 1980s, Collins achieved success as a solo artist and collaborated with rock stars such as Eric Clapton, Robert Cray and Gary Moore. Collins died in 1993, leaving behind a rich musical legacy and many followers.
