If you belong to those who frequently travel, surely happened to you many times that you sitting alone in a hotel room and thinking about how great it would be to play the guitar.
When you travel, there are not always possible to take your instrument with you.
Guitar usually takes a lot of space and weighs a lot. If you go by plane you have to bear the cost of each additional piece of luggage.
Or let imagine a situation that you’re going for a few days hiking in the mountains. What could be nicer than an evening campfire singing .
Only the prospect of carrying a guitar while hiking is not encouraging.
I looked recently for a solution to this issue. Something that would allow me to play, when taking the full-size instrument is not possible. Here are some interesting solutions for traveling guitarists which I found.
Martin Backpacker
First guitar is from Martin, the famous manufacturer of this type of instrument. It seems to me that the guitar sound is quite right, and after plugging in to an amplifier the sound becomes even more acceptable.
In my opinion, the biggest flaw of this guitar is an unusual shape that makes it virtually impossible to play without the strap. There is also a little too long for standard bag or backpack.
On youtube I found quite insightful negative review on this instrument.

Washburn Rover
Another acoustic guitar, which you can take under the tent is Washburn Rover. This guitar is slightly shorter than Martin Travel Backpacker. Regarding the sound seems to be a little better. The guitar has a much more convenient shape. It is available in few colors (blue, red, black, natural).
I found a video on youtube where at the beginning, the guy playing the blues on this guitar. I’m really delighted how it sounds. Surprisingly the video is made by a German, so his review is for me, difficult to understand, but I think it is positive.

Cupit Travel Guitar
Another solution that I found is completely unusual. This basically do not looks like the guitar, but it sounds great – see for yourself

Voyage-Air Guitar
The last method for traveling guitar is also unusual, but what we get is essentially standard-sized instrument.
This solution is for those who do not accept compromises. If the sound is most important to you then you will love this guitar. Many people reported that this guitar sounds even better than non folded instruments.
Anyway, watch a movie made by “Guitar Intractive”.
