British Blues Explosion – new concert CD/DVD by Joe Bonamassa
Joe Bonamassa loves concert publishing and publishes it at every opportunity. Another, entitled “British Blues Explosion” will be released on May 18, 2018 by Mascot.
In 2016, Joe Bonamassa played under the name of “British Blues Explosion” a short, 12 concert tour in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Benelux, Switzerland and Italy, and the only one performance in the United States. Joe presented the material of such masters of British guitar as Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page. One of these concerts, which took place on July 7, 2016 at Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, London, was recorded and will be released on May 18 in the form of 2 CDs, DVDs, Blu-Ray, 3 LPs (in British colors – blue, red and white) and in the electronic version.
The invasion of British Blues in the early 1960s had more influence on Joe Bonamassa than any other music, and the artists from this trend who inspired him the most were Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page. British blues was the most important bridge connecting blues and rock, two genres of popular music that was of great importance to listeners.
If you think about the similarities between Clapton, Beck and Page, one of the most important blues bands from England – The Yardbirds, in which all three guitarists played – come to mind automatically. However, the similarities between them go even further, because it was them, inspired by the icons of American blues, who paved the way towards rock’n’roll and modern blues.
The band that accompanied Bonamassa included Michael Rhodes (bass), Reese Wynans (keyboards), Anton Fig (drums) and Russ Irwin (rhythm guitar and additional vocal).
