Buddy Guy and Stevie Ray Vaughan jamming at Buddy Guy’s Legends on July 30, 1989. Video courtesy of Larry White.
We have never seen entertainers have extra enjoyable on stage than Stevie as well as Buddy Guy at Buddy’s Legends show in ’89. Playing silly, Muddy Water‘s favored “Champagne And Reefer” these two go wild the whole tune just appreciating playing together as well as living life, doing exactly what they love.
Originally Muddy’s tune, “Champagne and also Reefer” has to do with a male that desires the easy points in life– reefer when he wants to get high, sparkling wine when he wants to get drunk as well as his woman when he is really feeling lonely. That’s all as well as we’re not objecting to anyone of it! A male desire exactly what a man desires, right?
Doin’ what they do best, (cries) SRV, as well as Buddy, are breaking us up in this video as they smile as well as goof around the majority of the tune as well as have the moment of their lives. Nothing makes us better than seeing Stevie happy!
Guy arrived in Chicago on September 25th, 1957, the date he calls his “second birthday.” (“Buddy has a phenomenal memory,” says Richards. “He can tell you the time of day he arrived in Chicago and what train he was on.”) At first, Guy stayed with a family friend named Shorty, who’d also moved from Louisiana.
Buddy Guy is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, a major influence on rock titans like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Stevie Ray Vaughan, a pioneer of Chicago’s fabled West Side sound, and a living link to the city’s halcyon days of electric blues.
