Get ready for some Heavy Blues, from The Guess Who and Bachman-Turner Overdrive founder Randy Bachman – and his new power blues rock trio.
The force behind classic rock hits “Takin’ Care of Business”, “You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet” and “American Woman”, Heavy Blues is an album inspired by a love of classic 60s blues rock, and features an enviable guest list of musical contributors including Neil Young, Joe Bonamassa, Peter Frampton, Robert Randolph and the late Jeff Healey.
Randy has sold over 40 million albums, is a multiple music hall of fame inductee, in addition to being a celebrated media personality whose internationally syndicated Sirius/XM/CBC Radio show Vinyl Tap is a must listen weekly event for musicians of every stripe, with an impressive weekly audience across North America.
Bachman – Turner Overdrive
The Bachman-Turner Overdrive group was founded in 1972 on the initiative of Randy Bachman. It also included C.F. “Fred” Turner and Bachman’s two brothers, Robbie and Tim.
The band’s debut album was released in 1973 and was called “Bachman-Turner Overdrive”. However, it was only the second album – “Bachman-Turner Overdrive II” – became popular, mainly due to the single “Takin ‘Care of Business” promoting it.
The year 1974 saw another album – “Not Fragile”, which turned out to be even more successful than the previous one. The biggest hit of Bachman-Turner Overdrive – “You Ain’t Seen Nothin ‘Yet” came from it. After the release of the album, Tim left the band, and Blair Thornton was in his place.
The band returned in 1977 with the album “Freeways”. Immediately after its release, Randy left, who decided to create another group – Ironhorse. Jim Clench has replaced Randy and in such a line-up the band has recorded two more albums – “Street Action” and “Rock n ‘Roll Nights”. The musicians also decided to shorten the name of the band – from 1978 it was BTO.
At the end of 1979, the band broke up.
