In 1949, B.B. King convinced the owner of the WDIA radio to give him 10 minutes on the air. Then his artistic nickname was created – “The Beale Street Blues Boy”, which was then shortened to “B.B. King”.
B. B. King signed a contract with Nashville’s Bullet Records and released 28 singles that hit the charts. He became one of the most popular black artists and began playing hundreds of concerts
At the age of 75 B.B. King has achieved the greatest commercial success in his career. He recorded “Riding With the King” with Clapton. The album sold over two million copies worldwide and was awarded the Grammy Award in the Best Blues Album category.
The artist died on May 14 in Las Vegas at the age of 89. B.B. King struggled with health problems, primarily related to diabetes.
